The fall is becoming so exciting that if I don’t stop looking towards the future, I’m going to miss the summer. The first announcement I’ll make about the fall is that my work has been accepted into a high profile group exhibition in Australia! The Latrobe Contemporary Gallery in Morwell, Australia has decided to create an exhibition to explore the various online persona’s of artist Hazel Dooney – one of the Asia Pacific region’s most controversial female artist. I’m so thrilled my work will be exhibited at this highly original and unusual artist’s event that is sure to draw widespread media attention in Australia and elsewhere!
Examining controversial artist Hazel Dooney in this collaborative exhibition has been the lure for both local and international artists. Dooney is known for her expansive, provocative, enamel on timber paintings. Her illustrative works which have often compared to Manga art, can be found in public and private collections in the US, the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China, S.E. Asia and the Middle East.
From an artist’s standpoint, Dooney may be most intriguing for her self-made art career. Her incredible focus and disciplined work regime makes her a force to be reckoned with. She is a role model for artists looking to develop their own brand while balancing their own career independent of others.
Dreaming Hazel Dooney will run for two weeks, from the 10th to the 24th September (with an opening night party Saturday, the 10th), at Latrobe Contemporary Gallery, 209 Commercial Road, Morwell, Victoria 3840.
I will reveal my featured-Dooney piece closer to the time of the show. So Stay tuned!
